Svetlana Barker is USA swimming ASCA certified level 2 swim Coach. Svetlana Barker grew up swimming for the Soviet Union junior/ national team in Russia with an extensive background in high- level competitive swimming. Swimming in long course events and butterfly, Svetlana held age group records in 400,800, and 1500 meters’ freestyle, 100 and 200 meters’ butterfly. Svetlana had an outstanding swimming career. She was a member of the Tajik Swim Team that competed in 1993 in Women’s Islamic Games where she captured the two silver medals in 200 meters’ butterfly and 800 meters’ freestyle and two bronze medals in 4 x 100meters IM, 400 meters IM.
Svetlana Barker worked for CAN DO Fitness for over 10 years as Swim School Program Director Head and Swim Coach for ages 6years old through Master swim. Svetlana has been developing swimming curriculum, instructing and coaching swim lessons for 20 plus years. Under her direction the CAN DO Swim School program has grown from 0 to 650 swimmers. In her coaching career she has coached every level of the sport and loves to work with all age groups.
Svetlana’s top three priorities as a coach are: 1) Fun and love of swimming, 2) excellent technique, and 3) life-long health and fitness.
She is an active runner/ swimmer competing in many local 5k, 10k runs, and open water swims in the tri-state area.
