Play Unify – what does that mean to an athlete with special needs?
It means being dedicated to promoting social inclusion through shared sports training and competition experiences. Unified Sports joins people with and without disabilities on the same team. It was inspired by a simple principle: training together and playing together is a quick path to friendship and understanding.

Here at Schafer Sports Center, we aim to be inclusive and educate all athletes about Project Unify.

Please complete the intake form so that we can better understand your child and their needs. This will allow us to work with you in creating a program that fits their needs.

Program Details

Unify Sports offers three levels of participation:

Project Unify Competitive

Athletes with and without disabilities participate together as teammates in sport training and competition teams.

Unify Player development/mentoring

Athletes of higher abilities serve as mentors to assist teammates of lower abilities in developing sport-specific skills and tactics, and in successfully participating in a cooperative team environment.

Unify Recreation

Athletes and partners play together with some modifications and mentoring. Recreational play does not follow any prescribed training, competition and/or team composition requirements. Recreational opportunities may take place in partnership with schools, sports clubs, the community and other private or public organizations as introductory one-day events, exhibitions or demonstrations, or ongoing activities, such as physical education classes and intramurals.
